Yahoo needs H(el)P
It's no doubt that Google holds the major market share in the entire search industry, it's gone to such extremes that people no longer search for something, they 'google' it. Industry rivals are straining to catch up to the market leader and are willing to go to great lengths to do so.
Yahoo! just made a deal with HP wherein Hewlett-Packard has agreed to include Yahoo search and other online services in consumer desktops and notebooks that ship with Microsoft's upcoming Internet Explorer 7 Web browser.
HP said it plans to make Yahoo the default search engine in IE, and to include a co-branded browser toolbar in PCs it ships in North America. The new offerings would ship with PCs once Microsoft releases IE 7. The browser will be included in Windows Vista, set to ship in January.
But the question is, will such tactics really help Yahoo! catch up with or even overtake the search giant Google? Sure there are people who simply type in the search bar without checking where they are searching from, but i'm sure an equal or more are loyal google fans who would just uninstall the toolbar or just use firefox and browse from google.
Guess Yahoo just has to do everything it can to catch up!
