Shining Google, Twinkling Yahoo

Once there were biggies. Still they are, no one is now sure how long they will remain so. G came, saw the gaps, now leaving dusts and skeletons of biggies. Release after release after release. I think it would be more than a fulltime for anyone to keep a tap of whats happening inside G and itsproduct release schedules.

Once i used to think Yahoo is big, G has become thrice its market cap already. Its began threatening ad industry, threatened (unsuccessfully) print, payment gateways, MSN, and the list doesnt seem to end.

Its a master game plan with 1000s of variables - think never been attempted to solve algorithmically. Google is exactly doing that imo. Wah am impressed as anyone else with the marvel of this re-evolution :)

Google Does a Microsoft!

What a lovely time we are in. Whatever new comes up that has anything to do with technology, microsoft gives it away free in its next version.

Its time to see that happen with itself. The moment msn has introduced demographic targeting, google is immediate in its reaction to offer too (though its not impressive, but still its copying the same strategy as msn - release an imperfect product, maintain the edge, but kill the competition).

Lets see how the fun goes in the times to come :)

Adcenter MSN has a long way 2 go

Half an hour of desperate attempts to find out what did it cost for a date range... no clue how to do it in AdCenter. And finally on some page, it says 'error' and have no idea why an error comes when u click on something. (am sure this is because msn wants advertisers to use only internet explorer and i was using mozilla, Hey let me tell you one thing MSN, you are not going to go far if you want to use only internet explorer for viewing ur adcenter)

Am told a date range is being implemented and on its way long back. There are simply 100 things on how MSN can do it better.

Thing is all advertisers are waiting for some serious competition, caz it will bend google and benefit all. The pace at which MSN and Yahoo are implementing things will make sure Google always wins. Google now has demographic targeting, time targeting, site targeting, video ads, image ads, animated ads, print (may be scrapped, but was there), and MSN is facing basic issues of UI ???

Others, pull up ur socks and start running, 70% of my budgets go to G, am sure you want a better pie of that.

What Happened to Google Print..

Much talk, infact from India we tried to give some ad in north USA. Nothing happened after that. No clue, no hope now.

I think Google will scrap Print program. The idea was awesome though. I think they should have started with classifieds in newspapers instead of print ads. An online broker of all newspapers and magazines taking care of one section of their pages, 'the Google Classifieds'. The newspapers/publishers wouldnt be threatened, and G would have exclusive coverage in those mags/newspapers. But G needs to work hard to salvage the program, and think its a tough one.

All the best G for reviving your print program, and lets see who gets there first - M or G :)

Have You Tried Time Testing Yet?

The much awaited adscheduling is finally here. As like 100s of other advertisers, we have jumped to use it. The initial numbers are very encouraging.

What i think is, we can lessen the impact of tireless competitors clicking away on our ads during off office hours. And people from other countries clicking for adsense bucks in the nights!!

Lets see how impactful it will be in the days to come, my 2 cents on it:)

CPA from Google, the death of affiliate networks?

Google is testing Cost Per Action to safeguard itself from every increasing click fraud menace. If this is successful, thousands of advertisers and lots of good publishers will benefit.

Now what happens to cj.com that charges thousands of $$$ for reaching+using its affiliate network???
